This is a 1916 dated piece of French Army trench art. This example is made from a 1915 German 7.92mm empty case, bullet head and piece of what we believe to be scrap brass which was most likely picked up of the battle field. It has the date 1916 on the blade with the inscription "bon le duc 1916" with a flower pattern on the other side.
