This is an original Great War British Army 1908 pattern intrenching tool head as used throughout the Great War. This pattern of entrenching tool head was used in conjunction with a wooden helve and was carried in the 1908 pattern intrenching tool cover through WW1 and up until 1923 when it was made obsolete. It was re-introduced in 1941 and then saw use throughout the Second World War although the head was larger in WW2. This example is the small size produced during the Great War. An original Great War item which would make a good addition to a collection.
