WW1 Imperial German G98 Butcher Bayonet and Scabbard
Description

An original, WW1 Imperial German G98 Butcher Bayonet and Scabbard. The 14 ½” single edged blade with fuller which widens towards the point has staining consistent with age but no rust. The ricasso is crisply stamped by the manufacturer 'Simson & Co Suhl'. The back of the blade is faintly stamped 'Crown W' & dated '16' (1916). The bayonet has a steel swept quillon, correct 9 groove dark wood grips and steel pommel with press button release catch which works as it should. It is complete with original metal scabbard and leather frog dated 1916. All leather and stitching are intact.
