Trench Art WW1 Royal Navy 2 Pounder Cases
Description

Here we have a matching pair of First World War Royal Navy 2 pounder shells that have been turned into some great trench art. The shells are 40 x 158R British cannon rounds. Manufactured by VSM - Vickers, Sons & Maxim, the brass shell is marked 2 PDR with a 1915 dated fuse. They were fired from the Vickers auto cannon during both world wars. In 1915 the Vickers 2 pdr gun was primarily used on most of the Royal Navy fleet as an anti aircraft gun. WWII saw them back in service again with smaller vessels and in ground mounted form. There is more history to these shells which I am trying to find out as I am in contact with the family who this pair came from. So far I know that the there great uncle was in the navy during the great war.
